Where the jobs are

The eight largest role categories by active postings, each a queryable filter on the API.

The top eight categories hold 157,080 postings — 59.5% of all 264,049 active listings. Software Engineering leads at 31,011 postings, 11.7% of the total, up 745 from September's 30,266. Healthcare gained 3,616 month over month to 26,380, and Business & Operations added 3,549 to reach 25,461 — the two largest absolute category gains this period.

Remote availability continues to split sharply by role type. Sales & Account Management (39.7%) and Software Engineering (34.3%) run well above the dataset-wide 22.2% remote share, while Hospitality & Retail (3.2%) and Skilled Trades & Field Roles (5.5%) remain nearly entirely on-site.

Top 10 countries: United States (123,452) · United Kingdom (21,237) · France (11,207) · Germany (10,937) · Canada (10,384) · India (6,916) · The Netherlands (5,436) · Australia (4,048) · Spain (3,557) · Brazil (3,120)

France climbed from fifth (8,591) to third (11,207), overtaking both Germany (10,937) and Canada (10,384). Spain re-entered the top 10 at ninth (3,557), replacing Sweden which had entered last month. The United States added 4,529 postings month over month to 123,452.

Remote work

22.2% of active postings are marked remote, down 1.7 percentage points from September's 23.9%. The figure is derived from the structured location resolved on each posting rather than from free-text title matching. A posting only counts as remote when its resolved location says so, making this a floor on real remote availability — what employers actually declare.

The category breakdown in the table above continues to show the same structural pattern: remote share concentrates in knowledge-work roles (Software Engineering at 34.3%, Sales & Account Management at 39.7%) and stays near zero in location-dependent categories. The dataset-wide rate reflects that mix rather than a uniform shift across all role types.

Pay transparency

32.8% of active postings disclose a salary, down 1.5 percentage points from September's 34.2%. The figure reflects only what employers actually publish — salary is never inferred or estimated — so it is a floor on real pay transparency, not a model of it.

This is a single dataset-wide rate. The breakdown does not carry disclosure per category, so this edition reports the global number only and makes no per-category claim. The rate has now retreated to its June–July level after two months at a higher plateau, returning to the 32–33% band observed at the start of the series.

Method & citation

  • Computed directly from the live Job Listings API dataset — the same records the API returns.
  • Counts cover a rolling 21-day active window; postings older than that drop out.
  • Read first-party from 13 applicant tracking systems, never scraped from aggregators.
  • LinkedIn is not a source and is not included in any figure here.
  • Salary disclosure reflects what employers actually post — salary is never inferred or estimated.
  • Remote share is derived from the structured location resolved on each posting.
  • Figures are a one-time snapshot retrieved October 1, 2026 UTC; they are not refreshed after publication.
